Opening Times

Dear Customer


Given the most recent information Belper Leisure Centre is aiming to re-open the Centre, hopefully in its entirety week commencing the 3rd August 2020.


In view of this we will post a further update along with information regarding activity area programming and opening times on our website. We are still waiting for full clarification of indoor dry side activities but do feel confident that we will be able to update this note in a positive fashion before the 3rd August.


We will operate to a 1 meter+ social distancing guideline and will try and be as inconspicuous as possible, allowing, wherever possible a for a good deal of customer common sense and respect to prevail.


There will be limitations to air conditioning and management systems, but we will endeavour to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Wait for the hottest August on record!


As stated previously we have created a screened staff control area in Palms Fitness Suite and in the Palms reception area, for customer and staff safety. We will also provide Palms staff with equipment to enable consultations to continue with a degree of customer confidence and reassurance.


We continue to be led by ukactive, Sport England, Swim England and other governing bodies along with the government in order that we are able to provide a safe and hygienic customer experience in a controlled and stable environment for all concerned.

Dear Customer


Whilst we are somewhat amazed that indoor leisure facilities will not be able to open early July, we are still working to ensure that we can open during the early part of August.


We have planned to open based on the 2-meter social distancing guidelines and are currently working to see how we can make changes to accommodate the 1-meter+ guidelines… we do think this will make for easier and less fragmented operations.


We have created a screened staff control area in Palms Fitness Suite and in the Palms reception area, for customer and staff safety. We continue to plan to ensure that we provide a safe and hygienic customer experience to enable a controlled and stable exercise environment for both customers and staff.


We will continue to take advice from ukactive, Sport England and Swim England and of course we listen and await central government updates in this respect.


Due to our staff being furloughed we are unable to directly respond to any lines of communication therefore we will keep you updated as much as possible with frequent statements.

Belper Leisure Centre Customer News 


In line with the Government's easing of restrictions, leisure centres, public pools and gym facilities will be able, subject to compliance with safety standards, to re-open hopefully, July-August.


Belper Leisure Centre are working in accordance with the guidance and support being offered by ukactive and Sport England and will develop our specific operating policies and procedures in order to enable customer confidence when resuming the use of our facilities... when the lights turn green! This guidance and support will be compliant with the government’s scientific and operational advice.


The senior management team has been communicating with each other to put in place measures that comply with government guidance. I am sure that using the Centre facilities will feel different to start with (because they will be!) but that customers will adapt very quickly to such change. You can be assured that such changes are in the best interests of customer and staff safety, we will of course remain reliant on customer compliance, understanding and patience for as long as this re-opening phase takes!


As part of the ukactive/Sport England/Swim England advice we will be undertaking the following:


               Preparing and training staff for them to be safe, aware and ready to help in                 all instances in  line with the increased safety requirements


                Preparing the Centre so that it is compliant with customer and staff safety                  and operational  requirements.


               Relocating facilities to enable the process of social distancing this may                       require some of our gym equipment, spinning classes and some exercise                     classes  being moved into the alternative areas such as the Activity Hall or                 weather permitting the 3G Pitch (if available).


              Adapting our booking system to enable customers to book 'on-line' for

              swimming, workout classes and gym sessions that will enable staff to

              maintain a safe level of customers within the Centre at any one time... and                  hopefully reduce the need for queuing!


               Adapting our opening times to enable scheduled deep cleaning processes                  to take place in  accordance with the new and increased requirements.


               We will work to ensure that we carry sufficient PPE to meet with the                             requirements of staff and customers, providing staff with PPE as

               required and providing customers with      opportunities to use sanitizer

               points around the Centre.


Please note we will update the above along with any other information on a weekly basis on our website and Facebook page. Further, we anticipate that by week commencing the 22nd we will be in a position to notify the re-opening date of the Leisure Centre! In the meantime, I trust that you are safe and well and we look forward to re-opening and meeting with you as soon as is possible.
